3D Printed Hollow Form Object

 3D Printed Hollow Form Object

When creating my five designs I was mostly just experimenting and not focusing on printability. At some point I had the idea using them for a night light. My final print does actually serve this purpose. The print quality ended up doing extremely well in the mid section of the design but was significantly rough around steeper parts of the top and bottom of the design.

5 design concepts:

Left to right numbered 1-5

Function: Objects 2, 3, and 4, are purely for aesthetics and have no other purpose. Object 1 and 5 can be used as a night light I intend to make eventually.

Form: Objects 1 and 2 are pretty basic and boring. 4 is also basic but slightly more interesting. I believe objects 3 and 5 are the most aethetically pleasing.

Self-supporting: Objects 1 and 5 would print without support material. The horizontal circle in object 2, top and bottom circular curves in object 3, and hanging edges of object 4 would need support material to print.

3D Printability: Objects 1 and 5 are ready to print. 5 is more interesting and will be my first choice.

Print choice:

Simulation in Prusa Slicer:

Some extra internal material is required.

Top and bottom curves may be steep but likely still print.
